The lupine’s showy red spikes can anchor a dramatic arrangement of cut flowers, but they look lovely in the garden among deep green palmate foliage. Reaching a height of about two feet, this perennial is a favorite of butterflies and hummingbirds. Once established, it blooms late spring to early summer. Derived from a native North American plant, lupines prefer full sun to light shade and soil with slight acidity and good drainage.
Healthy plant in one-gallon pot.
