Because of the threat of rain, the Conjunto Philadelphia concert scheduled for Hansberry Garden on Thursday, Sept. 25, will occur at the rain location, Attic Brewing Company, instead of Hansberry Garden. Attic Brewing Co. is at 137 Berkley Street, near the Wayne Junction train station.

About Conjunto Philadelphia

Conjunto Philadelphia performs music of pre-revolutionary Cuba — the kind of music introduced to a new generation by The Buena Vista Social Club. In an interview with World Cafe Live, founder Jeff Torchon identified these genres (including cha-cha-cha, Son, Danzón, mambo, and Bolero), as the source of many of today’s popular Latin genres, especially salsa.

All of the band’s musicians have impressive musical backgrounds and also perform many other musical genres (jazz, blues, rock, folk) in addition to their work with Conjunto Philadelphia. This depth of knowledge helps create a rich Cuban style.

Conjunto Philadelphia has performed at many venues in the Philadelphia area, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Longwood Gardens, Chris’ Jazz Café, World Café Live!, the Exit Zero Jazz Festival, the Philadelphia Center City Jazz Festival, and the Penn Museum, and the band anchored World Cafe Live’s 2017 Havana Nights series.
