Want to get some hands-on experience at saving a healing harvest in a bottle? Come to Hansberry Garden on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m. to volunteer for Philly Herb Hub, a community apothecary that offers free herbal medicines to Black folks in Philadelphia. The Herb Hub provides free herbs and free workshops through a sustainable mutual-aid network with local growers, medicine makers, and herb enthusiasts.

Hansberry Garden Member and herbalist Desiree Thompson, the co-founder of Philly Herb Hub, will lead volunteers in bottling some tinctures and syrups.

Afterwards, she will demonstrate a method of making herbal glycerites that requires no boiling or alcohol, using herbs freshly harvested from the garden, and volunteers will again assist her in bottling.

Bring an eight-ounce jar if you’d like to go home with some extras!

In case of rain, this event will be held at the Weavers Way Community Outreach Office at 326 W. Chelten Ave.
